MSH recently received a $50,000 grant from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to fund a Technical Assistance Grant to implement a Brownfield Planning Activities Downtown Development project. This grant allowed us to partner with downtown development consultants Place+Main (https://placeandmain.com) to utilize community input, market data, demographic trends, and retail leakage, to create customized construction and operating pro formas on 21 vacant buildings in downtown Homer. The project supports a Transformation Strategy catalyst strategy of Business Activation and Development as we work to market vacant buildings and place them back into service in our community.
