Main Street Homer needs your help!

In early 2024, the Town of Homer discontinued its funding for Main Street Homer. We urgently need financial support from you, our dedicated citizens and supporters of Main Street Homer, through donations during the upcoming Giving Tuesday fundraising event on December 3. By becoming a donor, you will align yourself with positive change and community involvement that directly drives our efforts to foster a vibrant downtown, supporting existing businesses while creating opportunities for new ones. We believe that a thriving downtown is crucial for the overall prosperity of our community, and your contribution can make a lasting difference in building a brighter future for Homer. We invite you to join us in our mission and vision by becoming a Giving Tuesday donor for Main Street Homer.

Our Work...

Since 2014, Main Street Homer has worked to revitalize Homer through economic development, historic and cultural preservation, and advancement of the arts. During ten years of existence, our nationally and statewide accredited Main Street program has provided 13 downtown property owners financial incentives to help revitalize their historic buildings, created a public park out of a vacant lot, and supported local artists through art shows and summer art camps. We are currently administering four grants from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Thriving Communities, National Park Service, and USDA (see current construction on the Pan Am Filling Station photo) totaling over $500,000 to help revitalize empty buildings, bring businesses to Homer, and create a safer downtown. To date, MSH has facilitated over $1.4 million dollars in downtown development funding, acting as the “developer of last resort” by placing previously empty buildings back into service, creating infrastructure for new businesses.
