Main Street Homer seeks to revitalize Homer through economic development,  cultural and historic preservation, and advancement of the arts.

About Main Street Homer

April 2014, Homer was awarded the Louisiana Main Street designation. Louisiana Main Street is a community-driven revitalization program designed to promote the historic and economic redevelopment of traditional commercial districts in Louisiana. The Main Street program improves all aspects of downtown, producing both tangible and intangible benefits. Improving economic management, strengthening public participation, and making downtown a fun place to visit are as critical to Main Street's future as recruiting new businesses and rehabilitating buildings.

In the short time since receiving this designation our community in Homer has embraced this program whole hardedly by raising funds, gathering volunteers and exploring ideas to improve downtown Homer.  We will begin shortly with our first downtown restoration project in creating a green space to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.  Through Main Street Homer, one of our downtown businesses was awarded a $10,000 matching restroration grant, and the renovations are now complete. The restored storefront is a beautiful addition to downtown.

We need YOU to help us by volunteering or donating or both to our Main Street program.  Please join us.  You do not have to be a resident of downtown Homer to participate!
